The wreathed flag is a variant of the Iranian Lion and Sun flag that adds a decorative wreath around the central emblem. Iran Flag Project defines two versions: one with the Pahlavi Crown above the wreath, and one without. The flag dimensions, wreath design, and emblem placement are identical between the two.

The crowned wreath flag uses the same green–white–red tricolour as the standard flag but with a smaller Lion and Sun emblem enclosed in a wreath topped by the Pahlavi Crown. It is one of the more widely seen variants of the flag, particularly at protests and diaspora events, and is popular among monarchists and patriots alike.

The left side of the wreath is made of a laurel branch with small berries; the right side is oak with leaves and acorns.[a]It is more visually evident in Sodacan’s stylised design.[1]File:Lion and Sun Emblem of Persia.svgSodacan · Wikimedia Commons · 18 November 2012commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lion_and_Sun_Emblem_of_Persia.svg See Modern Iranian Flag History page for context.

Wreathed flag without the crown

This version is identical to the crowned variant except the Pahlavi Crown is removed. Without the crown, the gap above the emblem increases from 20 to 33 units to keep the composition balanced. It is used by those who prefer the wreathed design without the monarchist association of the crown.

The gap from the top of the crown to the top edge of the flag is 20 units, and the gap from the bottom of the wreath to the bottom edge is 27 units. In the crownless variant, the gap above the emblem increases to 33 units.

On the construction sheets, blue dots indicate contact points between shapes and their rectangular bounding boxes.
