ONE FLAG FOR ONE COUNTRY
The standardised design for Iran’s Lion and Sun flag
Iran Flag Project (IFP) outlines a modern, standardised design for the national flag of Iran, the Lion and Sun flag.
While the Lion and Sun flag has long served as a national symbol, its modern usage has lacked consistency in proportion, colour, and design. IFP establishes a single, precise reference intended for universal use, which has already begun to be adopted by Iranians across the world.
Throughout the entire history of Iran, no single version of the flag has been consistently adopted. Numerous variants exist, often using inconsistent proportions and design.
This project resolves that inconsistency by providing a clearly defined and reproducible standard. The standard includes exact specifications for:
- Flag proportions
- Colour values (Pantone and digital)
- Emblem construction and placement
All files are provided in ready-to-use formats.

In addition to the base flag, the project documents recognised variants, including wreathed and dark versions, each defined with the same level of precision.
